Head north to Temiskaming Shores, a region rich with history along the shores of magnificent Lake Temiskaming.
Further north is the city of Timmins, located in one of the richest mineral producing areas in the Western Hemisphere. Timmins offers an assortment of unique vacation experiences from wildlife viewing to glamping in the great Canadian Boreal Forest.
Just one hour north of Timmins is the town of Cochrane, home of the Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat. This facility is the largest, and the only human care facility in the world dedicated to polar bears.

Depart from Toronto via Hwy 400.
Turn onto Hwy 11 through Huntsville to North Bay.
Continue on Hwy 11 through Temiskaming Shores.
From Temiskaming Shores continue up Hwy 11.
Take a turn west onto Hwy 101 to Timmins.
Backtrack down Hwy 101, and continue north on Hwy 11 to Cochrane.

Chief Commanda II Cruise

The Chief Commanda II is a 320-passenger, all aluminum twin hull vessel that cruises at a speed up to 13 knots or 25 km/h. The ship is equipped with two bars, handicapped accessible washrooms, snack bar and open-air BBQ. On-board entertainment is featured every Sunday, in July and August.

The Chief features three decks. The main and second deck areas are enclosed with outside viewing areas. The top deck is open with seating and standing room, where passengers can enjoy the sunshine and a first class view...the perfect.

Dionne Quints Museum

North Bay

The Dionne quintuplets are the first quintuplets known to have survived their infancy. Their birth home was bought by the city of North Bay, and turned into a museum dedicated to the family's story

Details

On May 28, 1934, five identical girls were born in the tiny community of Corbeil, Ontario. Their births were a miracle of its time during the difficult Depression, the only quintuplets to survive more than a few days. The five girls – Yvonne, Annette, Cécile, Émilie, and Marie – became a “good news” story in this challenging time, drawing worldwide attention to the area, and attracting 3 million people to “Quintland” to see and hear the girls at play. Hollywood told their story in 3 movies, while endorsements for commercial products became common place.

Their birthplace has been preserved for the enjoyment and edification of current and future generations.

The North Bay Museum is located in the historic Canadian Pacific Railway station at the corner of Oak Street and Ferguson Street downtown North Bay.

The North Bay Area Museum Society was established in 1973 as a not-for-profit organization and registered charity to preserve and celebrate the history of North Bay. The museum features regular programming as well as special exhibitions.
