Northern Ontario Routes
The PROSPECTOR ROUTE
This seven-day RV loop brings travellers through historic mining towns deep in the vast, mineral-rich Canadian Shield of Northeastern Ontario. For an extended trip, travelers have the option to connect to the Fur Trade Route along the western segment of the Prospector Route along Hwy#11 from Cochrane to Nipigon.
The Heart of Canada Route
This 14-day loop meanders through the centre of Canada through Manitoba and Northwest Ontario, and can be driven in either direction starting from Winnipeg or Thunder Bay. The route has a lot to offer with delicious local cuisine, charming northern communities and diverse landscapes ranging from the rugged Canadian Shield to the wide open Prairies. Explore pristine interconnected waterways that stretch between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Superior. Expect to see a lot of wildlife and beautiful views.
Ontario Parks
There are numerous provincial parks throughout Northern Ontario. Most of these parks open in late May and close in September. A park pass is required and must be displayed on the dash of a vehicle at all times. Electricity, fresh water and sani-dumps are available in all provincial parks that accommodate RV camping.
